he Briarwood School is an independent, non-profit, co-educational day school for children with learning differences. Especially designed for children in grades
K-12, the individualized educational process at Briarwood is total. We educate the mind, cultivate the spirit, and strive to enhance self-esteem through academic, physical, emotional, and social growth.

The warmth and vitality that permeates the Briarwood campus is a great asset in providing the students, from throughout Harris and surrounding counties, support and encouragement to learn, to  develop individual interests, and to bridge the gap between their intellectual potential and academic achievement.

Two major areas of special educational needs are addressed at Briarwood:

  1. Diagnosed learning disabilities or exhibited learning differences in reading, math, language, or writing which may be accompanied by attention deficit disorders or hyperactivity.

  2. Developmental challenges such as pervasive developmental disorders.

Of the approximately 300 students who enroll each year, 80% are children in our Lower and Middle-Upper Schools with average to superior intelligence who have special academic needs. The remaining 20% are developmentally challenged children enrolled in our Tuttle (Special) School.

Briarwood welcomes a diverse student population. Briarwood does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin in admissions or financial assistance programs, or in the administration of our educational programs.

We believe every child can learn and every child has the right to be taught in the way that he or she learns best.
