Summer Camp

Why choose Summer Camp?

Attended by over 200 children from 50 area schools and 150 volunteers from every walk of life, this unique camp was designed with one thing in mind—the child. Although the goal of camp is fun, pure and simple, the experience enhances self-confidence and skill development. Campers with and without learning differences utilize the "fun atmosphere" to express themselves, discover talents, strengthen social interaction, increase gross motor skills, and develop new problem-solving techniques. Acting, singing, drawing and sports come easily to many children, but a child with a learning difference often lacks the ability to express themselves or the self-esteem to attempt new challenges.

Super Camp, especially designed for children with learning differences, targets language and motor development, which are so necessary for building self-confidence. On Friday afternoons the children participate in "Mini Masterpieces" involving singing, acting and choreography. Another vital aspect of Super Camp is parent education. Three days during the week parents are able to listen, question and discover more about learning differences from leading specialists in Houston. Super Camp is also a background for Houston teachers to acquire necessary skills in teaching special needs children.
