Briarwood has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) ENERGY STAR certification, which signifies that the building performs in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency and meets strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA.

The Briarwood School recently welcomed a study tour from the International Institute for Educational Therapy in Tokyo. The study tour of fourteen, lead by Dr. Junko Kato, included speech and language therapists, members of dyslexia committees, teachers and special support education counselors.
The International Institute for Educational Therapy was established in Tokyo in 1981 for the purpose of making contributions to further the development and improvement of educational therapy by providing teachers, therapists and parents with practical seminars and lectures.
Dr. Kato's LD Study Tour observed classrooms at Briarwood with a focus on best teaching strategies and methodologies in a school designed for students with learning differences.
