Middle Upper School Counselor (7-12)
The Middle Upper School Counselor provides additional support to a diverse school population through individual, group, and/or family counseling or consultation. The counselor is available to help students deal with personal crises or day-to-day classroom difficulties. This service is available to help students cope with difficulties that might interfere with their learning, rather than long-term therapy. For students needs beyond the scope of counseling available at Briarwood, referrals to other service providers may be given.
Effective March 23, 2020, our Middle Upper School counselor will available by appointment should your student need to talk to someone about any situation that may be impacting their mental health. You may contact the counselor directly by emailing her at tlazurs@briarwoodschool.org. A Telecounseling Consent Form must be completed before meeting with any student. Post High School Planning
The counselor assists with post high school planning and coordinates standardized testing.
Post high school planning is a significant part of the student services received at Briarwood. Students in grades 11 and 12 are given guidance in making application for college entrance exams, complete with documentation that justifies all requested accommodations.
ACT Testing
Briarwood is a designated test site for students who have been granted special accommodations to take the ACT test. The Briarwood Counselor designates necessary materials.
